Welcome to the Fractal Enterprise Architecture Web site. This Web site and all of its contents are provided free to the world for use in better understanding the ‘connections’ between the many different stakeholder points-of-view of people working in information technology. It is developed and maintained by one individual, but not one idea. The author has selectively chosen from what they believe to be many of the best ideas put forth, in the public domain, by many of the brightest or most experienced, in our industry. The goal is to share a generic reference architecture seed crystal for a cultural transformation in the way we all think about how software engineering is approached today, and in the future, in effort to solve common business problems for all industry domains and reuse the work. Continuous innovation should garner the 'votes' of best practices for widest adoption.

This site is not exhaustive or by any means perfect. But many thousands of man hours have been spent sifting through a plethora of information that has been digested, synthesized and organized over greater than twenty years applying practical field delivery of Management Information Systems / Decision Sciences for multiple clients, in multiple domains, for major industry vendors.

The motto of the Web site is taken from a public school in Erick, Oklahoma:

"The Timber Lies Before Us - Let Us Build."

The meaning of which is to say that there is a lot of great work out there that has been done and is being done that needs to be looked at in a generic perspective. Whenever you are losing the game, the coach always tells you to 'get back to the fundamentals'. If the 'fundamentals' of the game are better understood by all, then it should be easier to apply a more specific approach to more specific business processing or systems architecture problems in each domain.

Many times, ‘the answer will depend …'. Therefore, attribution to all intellectual advice is provided by labeling and/or pointing to their work; little effort is made to maintain links to all work cited as entropy may soon invalidate their location. However, if a particular reference is searched for, it should easily be found for ‘deep dive’ learning. Remember, none of us knows it all and this Web site is a free contribution to our professional community so we can help transform our industry together.
